Untitled Goose Game Wins Game of the Year Title at Dice Awards

Indiegame Untitled Goose Game won the Game of the Year title at the Dice Awards. In total, the game won three awards. Control has won the most awards with four awards.

A total of five games were nominated for Game of the Year, including Control, Death Stranding, Disco Elysium and Outer Wilds. However, the title was won by Untitled Goose Game, a puzzle game in which players have to harass people like a goose. The game was created by House House, a small development studio based in Melbourne, Australia. In the previous 22 editions of the Dice Awards, triple-a games have always won Game of the Year, Polygon writes.

In addition to the title Game of the Year, Untitled Goose Game also won the awards for ‘outstanding achievement in character’ and ‘outstanding achievement for an independent game’. Untitled Goose Game was already nominated for best indie game at the Game Awards, but was then beaten by Disco Elysium.

Developer House House late in a tweet know that the studio was unable to attend the awards ceremony, and that the company “had difficulty” shooting a thank-you video because the employees “couldn’t imagine winning” given the other nominations.

The Dice Awards has a total of 23 categories, of which Control won no fewer than four. The game also won the title for best action game of the year. The game was also awarded three prizes for art direction, game direction, and original music composition. Death Stranding wins the prize for ‘outstanding achievement in audio design’ and ‘outstanding technical achievement’. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has in turn been named Adventure Game of the Year and indie game Disco Elysium has been awarded a prize for the best story.

Nintendo has been awarded three prizes: Super Mario Maker 2 wins the prize for best family game while Luigi’s Mansion 3 has been awarded for its animations. Mario Kart Tour, in turn, has been named the best racing game of 2019. Pistol Whip has been named the best virtual reality game and Apex Legends takes the title for online game of the year. Indie game Baba is You wins a game design award and Blood & Truth wins the best technical achievement in a VR game.

The Outer Worlds also won the prize for best rpg. Fifa 20 is the best sports game of 2019 according to the jury, Mortal Kombat 11 wins the prize for best fighting game, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is named best strategy game and Sayonara Wild Hearts wins the prize for best mobile game.
