Unity promises to change controversial prize system and apologizes

Unity issued a statement apologizing for the confusion surrounding the new prize system for the game engine. In line with this, the company promises to implement changes to its policy. Unity will communicate more about this later this week.

The engine maker says in a tweet: “We heard you. We apologize for the confusion and uncertainty surrounding the Runtime Fee policy we announced on Tuesday. We are currently consulting with our team members, community, customers and partners and will be adjusting the policy. We are releasing An update will be released in a few days. The company has not yet shared any concrete upcoming changes to its pricing policy. For now, under the controversial new system, developers must pay for every installation of their game if it uses the Unity Engine. There are some criteria attached to this, such as at least 200,000 installed copies of the game and a turnover of at least $ 200,000 in the past twelve months.

Unity emphasized rather that these changes would not apply to ninety percent of current customers. However, there was a lot of commotion among game developers, because this pricing model would conflict with the user terms previously drawn up by Unity and would be unfair to the game developer.
