Ubisoft will stop offering the free online shooter Ghost Recon Phantoms. From December 1, it will no longer be possible to play the game, and until then players will have to use up their purchased Ghost Coins.

Ubisoft announced the news in a blog post on the US website. According to the publisher, Ghost Recon Phantoms was not as successful as hoped, although no revenue and player numbers have been released. Until December 1, it is still possible to play Ghost Recon Phantoms; those who have purchased in-game money will not receive a refund for their purchase, so they must spend it before the servers go offline.

Ghost Recon Phantoms was released in 2011, then under the name Ghost Recon Online. It is the first game in the series that can be played online for free, although players can buy stuff with microtransactions. Probably not enough people did this to keep the game running in the end.

In the online shooter, players have to choose between three different classes to play with. Battles must then be fought with the team, with a choice of approximately 500 weapons.
