Ubisoft announced the platform game Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown during Summer Game Fest 2023. The game will be released on January 18, 2024 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S and via Amazon Luna.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, like all previous games in the franchise, is set in a mythological version of Persia. The main character has several Time Powers, skills that influence combat and platforming. Ubisoft promises in addition, RPG, puzzle and story elements.

The new Prince of Persia uses a sidescrolling perspective, just like previous parts of the franchise from the 1980s and 1990s, but with 3D graphics. Since Prince of Persia 3D, the action platformer has, with a few exceptions, always been set in a fully 3D world.

Update, Tuesday: The original article stated that 2003’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was the first 3D game in the franchise. That’s not true, as 1999’s aptly named Prince of Persia 3D previously met that requirement. The article has been adjusted. Thanks to Puff_Danny.
