Ubisoft has shared a new roadmap for its Assassin’s Creed series, which names multiple games to come after Assassin’s Creed Mirage. One is Codename Red, an Assassin’s Creed title set in feudal Japan.
Ubisoft Describes Codename Red as the next flagship title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. According to the studio, it will be an open world RPG in which players can live out their “shinobi fantasies”. A short teaser shows a bright sunset in a Japanese city, after which a ninja with a dagger jumps on a roof. The title is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec and should be released after 2023. A more concrete release date has not yet been announced.
Codename Red will be the first title to be released by Ubisoft as part of the ‘future of Assassin’s Creed’. The company is releasing the game through Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a centralized hub for future games in the franchise. In addition to Codename Red, Ubisoft has teased three other AC games that will be available through Infinity. The game publisher is switching to Infinity after Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which is planned for 2023.
After Codename Red, Ubisoft has confirmed the working titles of three more Assassin’s Creed games. Codename Hexe follows after Red. This one was also briefly teased, suggesting that the game revolves around witches. Ubisoft says this will be a “new breed” of Assassin’s Creed game in terms of gameplay. Invictus will be a multiplayer title in the franchise, where Red and Hexe will only get a single player mode. Furthermore, Ubisoft comes with Codename Jade, a game that takes place in China and comes out on smartphones. Apart from Jade, according to the game maker, all teased games are “full-fledged Assassin’s Creed titles”.
