Twitter lets users add precise location to tweet

Twitter will allow users to add precise locations to tweets. For example, users can tweet the location of a hotel or pub. The company is collaborating with Foursquare for this.

At the moment, users can already add a location to a tweet less precisely, such as a city or a neighbourhood, but soon locations such as restaurants, hotels, train stations and airports can also be used as locations for a tweet. Twitter has announced that. It is unclear when the feature will be added.

Twitter uses the Foursquare database for the new functionality. This location app lets users check in at locations, and has a large database of publicly accessible places. It’s unclear whether Twitter pays Foursquare to access the database, but it probably does.
