Tony Hawk: Activision scrapped plans for remastering Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4

Activision was planning to make a remaster of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4, but that was canceled after studio Vicarious Visions was integrated with Blizzard. Ideas from other studios would have been shot down by Activision.

Tony Hawk himself reports that in a conversation with gamer andyTHPS on Twitch. Until the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 in September 2020, the plan would have been to remaster parts 3 and 4 as well.

However, in early 2021, Activision announced that studio Vicarious Visions was merging with Blizzard Entertainment. The studio’s employees were put on other projects and the studio has since stopped working on its own projects.

According to Tony Hawk, Activision has asked other studios for ideas about what they would like to do with the skate game series, but the publisher would not have had any confidence in that. As a result, the plans were scrapped and there would now be no work on a remaster of THPS 3 + 4.

While there’s no concrete news about a new Tony Hawk game or remaster, the pro skater says he’s holding out hope. “You never know; I didn’t expect the 20-year-old games to get a remaster,” said Hawk.
