Tokina has announced its 20mm f/2.0 manual focus lens for Sony A7 series cameras. The wide angle is the first lens in a new series to be called FíRIN. The lens will be on the market in the first quarter of 2017.

A photo of the lens already leaked at the end of August, now the FíRIN 20 mm f/2.0 has been officially announced. The optical design consists of thirteen elements in eleven groups. Tokina uses two aspherical elements and three low dispersion elements, which should ensure minimum chromatic aberrations and high contrast.

The lens weighs 490 grams, is 81.5 mm long, has a maximum diameter of 69 mm and is equipped with a 62 mm filter thread. The minimum focusing distance is 28cm and the aperture, which is adjustable from f/2 to f/22, has nine blades. The diaphragm has a de-click function, so that it is infinitely adjustable.

The Tokina FíRIN 20 mm f/2.0 has no autofocus, but it does have an electronic lens mount. This makes it possible to pass on information about focus distance and aperture to the camera. This can be used to display confirmation in the viewfinder or on the LCD when the designated subject is in focus. The lens also works in combination with the five-axis image stabilization of the Sony cameras that have it.

Tokina provides the 20mm f/2.0 with a Sony E mount and the lens can also be used on Sony FE cameras with a full-frame sensor. A suggested retail price has not yet been announced.
