Telenet has announced that from September 2, four types of digiboxes and a digicorder model that can only show TV channels in SD quality will no longer be usable. Customers with such a set-top box must purchase an HD digibox or digicorder.

According to Telenet, the digibox DB-AD100, DB-AD101, DB-AD110 and DB-AD120, as well as the digicorder DC-AD1000, will no longer be usable on its cable network from September. According to the cabler, the firmware of the set-top boxes is no longer supported by the manufacturers. Moreover, the aforementioned digiboxes and digicorders cannot show HD channels, while according to Telenet HD is now the standard: more and more TV channels have an HD channel and in the future the channel may only broadcast in HD.

Telenet states that customers who still own an old SD set-top box can contact the company to purchase a new HD digibox or digicorder. The cable operator promises to make an offer to switch if the customer contacts or visits a Telenet retail outlet. Recordings on an SD digicorder cannot be transferred to an HD variant.
