Super Mario Maker 2 will receive a major update on December 5. The update also adds the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda. Players who pick up this sword will turn into Link. The game also gets speedrun events and new objects.

Nintendo will add the Master Sword to the game on December 5. Players who pick up this sword become an 8-bit version of Link, the protagonist of the well-known game series. The character is therefore not playable in 3d mode. Link has some skills that Mario doesn’t. He has a bow that he can fire in three directions. He also has a shield, bombs and the Master Sword, with which he can do a sword dash. Nintendo shows in a trailer how Link can be used in a level designed especially for the character.

The update also includes a Ninji Speedrun mode where players can play timed challenges created especially by Nintendo. While playing this mode, users will see ‘Ninji ghosts’ walking next to them. These are previous attempts by other players. This speedrun mode is a weekly event. New levels are added ‘periodically’.

Nintendo also provides the game with new enemies and objects. Thus, the game gets frozen coins that need to be thawed. Also, the update adds Spikes. These are enemies throwing spiked balls. In snowy levels, such a Spike throws snowballs. The Dash Block is also new. When a player walks over such a block, Mario or Link gets a temporary speed boost. P-blocks are also added, which make platforms appear when activated. The new update is free for all players.
