The game Star Wars Battlefront II from 2005 has been updated so that the game has multiplayer again. Also, players who own the game on Steam or GOG Galaxy can now play together online. Up to 64 players can participate.

Disney, which owns the rights to Star Wars, reports on Steam that multiplayer support is back. At the same time, GOG also posted a message, stating that multiplayer is working again and that crossplay between GOG Galaxy and Steam is possible.

The multiplayer servers originally belonged to GameSpy, and when that service ended in 2014, Star Wars Battlefront II also ended multiplayer. The 2005 game was developed by Pandemic Studios and published by LucasArts. The studio was acquired by EA and the publisher closed its doors after the acquisition by Disney.

EA is currently working on a new version of Star Wars Battlefront II. The game will be released on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This weekend, the publisher is hosting an open beta of the multiplayer portion of the new game.
