Horizon Forbidden West Standard and Special Edition for PS4 will not receive an automatic PS5 upgrade with optimizations. That’s what Guerrilla Games says in a blog post. The Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, and Regalla editions do include both console versions.

It is possible to pre-order Horizon Forbidden West for the PlayStation 4 and 5 starting today. In a blog post following the preorders, it can be read that the Standard and Special Edition versions of Horizon Forbidden West for the PS4 do not contain dual entitlement and therefore do not have the PS5 upgrade or will have it in the future.

To take advantage of the optimizations for Sony’s latest console, gamers will need to purchase the Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, or one of the Regalla Editions. It is possible to run the PS4 version of the game on a PS5 console, but this will be done without the PS5 optimizations. It will also be possible to transfer the save files from the PS4 version to the PS5 version.

As of today, Horizon Forbidden West can be pre-ordered. The game is expected on February 18, 2022. The standard edition for the PS4 costs 70 euros, for the PS5 it costs 80 euros. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs 90 euros and includes both the PS4 and PS5 versions and extras such as a comic book and in-game extras. The Collector’s Edition costs $200 and also includes the PS4 and PS5 versions, a Tremortusk figurine, an artbook, in-game extras including two outfits and special weapons, and a Horizon Zero Dawn graphic novel. The Regalla Edition contains everything that the Collector’s Edition has, but adds a few extras and costs 270 euros.
