Square Enix will release Forspoken for PS5 and PC in Spring 2022
During the PlayStation Showcase, Square Enix showed off a new trailer for its third-person fantasy game Forspoken. In it, it is revealed that the game is slated to release in the spring of next year.
The Story Introduction Trailer, shown during the PlayStation Showcase, shows protagonist Frey Holland being transported from modern New York City into the magical world of Athia. In this she has to compete against all kinds of fantasy creatures, such as dragons and zombie bears. She is accompanied by a talking bracelet that guides her through the world of Athia.
Holland is played by Ella Balinska, known for the 2019 Charlie’s Angels film. According to Sony, the story was written by Gary Whitta, from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Amy Hennig, who also wrote the first three Uncharted games. wrote.
In the same trailer, it is announced that Forspoken should be released for the PlayStation 5 in the spring of 2022. PC players can also expect the game during that period. Square Enix has an exclusive deal with Sony that will prevent the game from appearing on other consoles for two years.
The game was first known as Project Athia, but was renamed Forspoken in March. Sony previously said that the game would be released in January 2022, but that is no longer the case. The game is being made by the new studio Luminous Productions.
