Square Enix has released a demo of Final Fantasy XVI for the PlayStation 5. This demo includes the game’s prologue. The game itself will be released on June 22, also only for the PlayStation 5.

The demo will be available on Monday June 12, this is confirmed in a blog post. The demo is now actually available in the PlayStation Store. The prologue lasts approximately 2.5 hours. In the demo, players gain ‘insight into the past of main character Clive Rosfield’ and the events that serve as a prelude to the game. Progress from this demo can be transferred to the full game upon release.

After the prologue, the game also includes a ‘special battle demo’. In that demo, players must infiltrate a fortress together with two party members. That fortress contains various enemies and boss battles. Progress from this combat demo will not carry over to the full game. Infiltrating the fortress offers about two hours of additional gameplay, Square Enix reports.
