Spotify for Apple Watch will receive support for offline downloads
Spotify’s Apple Watch app will receive support to store playlists, albums and podcasts offline from now on. The streaming service announced this in a press release. The feature will be rolling out in the coming weeks and is only available to Premium subscribers.
To keep audio files offline, a user of the Spotify app for the Apple Watch will have to touch the options menu of a playlist, album or podcast. This can be read in the company’s press release. He or she should then select the option ‘Download to Apple Watch’. After the files have been downloaded, a green arrow will appear next to the title. The stored songs will be streamed in 96 kbps to connected devices. This new feature will be supported from Apple Watch Series 3 watches. WatchOS 6.0 is required in conjunction with a Spotify Premium account.
Since November last year, users of the Spotify app for the Apple Watch have been able to stream audio files directly to connected devices without the need for another connection to an iPhone.
