Sony wants to acquire audio maker Audeze. That company makes high-end headphones and earphones. According to the companies, Audeze will continue to make products for various platforms and not just the PlayStation.

Sony writes that it has entered into an agreement with Audeze for an acquisition. This should strengthen Sony’s ‘work to innovate on the audio experience of PlayStation games’, the company writes, but it does not mention any concrete plans for this. Sony says it wants to ‘bring Audeze’s expertise into the PlayStation ecosystem’, citing examples such as the implementation of spatial audio via the Tempest 3D Audiotech technology in the PS5 and the Pulse 3D headset. Audeze says it wants to continue making more headsets while “supporting Sony in improving PlayStation audio.”

Audeze will continue to operate as a standalone company, Sony said. The manufacturer also continues to make audio products for various platforms and will not develop exclusively for the PlayStation. The products continue to be produced in the US state of California. The two companies do not say what the acquisition will cost and what other conditions are attached.
