Sony has started selling its 4K LCD TVs in the XH90 series. The high-end models have a full array local dimming backlight for HDR playback. The 55″ model costs 1499 euros and the largest 85″ version costs 3499 euros.

The TVs in Sony’s XH90 series are available in 55″, 65″, 75″ and 85″ sizes. They all have a panel with a 4k resolution that can display images at 120fps, although that will still require a ‘future software update’ according to Sony. Because the TVs are equipped with an HDMI 2.1 connection, they are prepared for the next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft.

Sony provides the XH90 TVs with its X1 image processor and support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The 65″ TV and the larger models have Sony’s Acoustic Multi-Audio system, where the screen surface is used as a sound box. This should ensure that the sound seems to come from exactly where the action or conversation is taking place.

Furthermore, the XH90 TVs have a Netflix Calibrated Mode and run on Android TV. Apple Airplay support has also been integrated and a link can be made with Amazon Alexa. Earlier, Sony already released the more expensive XH95 models with X1 Ultimate processor and IMAX mode. Cheaper models have also appeared in the XH80 series.
