Sony’s The Future of Gaming event, which was supposed to show launch games for PlayStation 5 games on Thursday, June 4, has been postponed. Sony is doing that because of the unrest in the United States. It is not yet known when the event will take place.

The PlayStation account reports on Twitter that ‘now is not the time for celebration’ and that there are currently ‘more important voices that need to be heard’. With this, Sony refers to the events in the United States of the past week. The country is dominated by a revolt against police brutality, following the death of black detainee George Floyd.

Sony announced the event Friday. The console maker planned to show launch games for its new console on Thursday. It is not yet clear when that presentation will take place, Sony does not mention a new date.

Google has also canceled an event due to the situation in the United States. The search giant planned to release the first beta version of Android 11 on June 3. That would be accompanied by a launch show. Both the release and the event have been postponed to an undisclosed moment.
