Sony has sold 2 million PlayStation VR headsets

Sony has sold a total of 2 million units of the PlayStation VR since its launch last October, the company has announced. More than 70 million of the PlayStation 4 consoles have now been sold.

Sony Interactive Entertainment lists 2 million PlayStation VR headsets sold based on worldwide sales. Of the 150 game titles for the VR glasses, more than 12.2 million pieces were sold. Sony introduced the headset in October 2016. After four months, the company had shipped 915,000, reaching a million by June. According to research companies, Sony’s headset is the most popular VR glasses.

Cumulatively, Sony has sold more than 70.6 million units of its PS4 and more than 617.8 million physical and digital games have been sold. It concerns all versions of the console, so both the original PS4 and the Slim and Pro versions, which have been sold from the introduction until December 7, 2017. Sony does not provide sales figures for the individual models. It is clear that the console remains popular: in June Sony reported that 60 million PS4s had been sold, a year ago there were 50 million.
