Sony has announced that it will add support for Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa to the WH-1000XM3, WH-1000XM2 and the WI-1000X. The first two are over-ear headphones and the WI-1000X is an in-ear model.

Sony reports that the three wireless headphones are currently being optimized for Amazon Alexa and that the necessary firmware updates will be available from the end of January. After implementing the new update via the Sony Headphones Connect app, users can ask Alexa a question at the touch of a button. For example, you may be asked to play music or listen to the news.

The three models have, among other things, noise canceling as a characteristic feature and they all already had support for the competing Google Assistant. Alexa is now also added, although users can only use one of the two voice assistants and not both at the same time.
