Software Update: WSUS Offline Update 8.6

Version 8.6 of WSUS Offline Update has been released. This program makes it possible to provide Windows computers that have no or a slow internet connection with the latest updates from Microsoft. By simply checking one or more operating systems, office suites and languages, all available updates will be downloaded from Microsoft’s ftp server. When the updates are in, an ISO file is optionally made per language or per operating system. Other computers can then be updated quickly and easily via a CD or DVD. WSUS Offline Update has support for Windows XP and later, and Office 2007 and later. New in this release includes support for aria2, which should be faster to download than wget, and Windows 8.1 is now properly recognized.

• Detection capability added for Windows 8.1 / Server 2012 R2 and Internet Explorer 11
• Optional use of aria2 instead of wget to speed up downloading
• List of superseded updates will now be recalculated if ExcludeList-superseded-exclude.txt was modified
• Microsoft Security Essentials and MSI packages will now be installed last
• CreateISOImage.cmd and CreateISOImage.sh scripts will now create UDF instead of Joliet formatted ISO images
• DownloadUpdates.cmd script will now automatically update mkisofs tool
• Added missing URL for Turkish version of Service Pack 2 for Office 2010 x64
• Fix: Static installation definitions for Office updates were not correctly evaluated on dual Office installations
• Fix: XSLT filters for Windows 8 / Server 2012 also got updates for Windows 8.1 / Server 2012 R2
• Fix: UpdateGenerator script won’t any longer try to copy to non-existent USB target paths
• Fix: DownloadUpdates.cmd script will now avoid misleading file integrity verification failures after an incomplete or broken download run
• Fix: DownloadUpdates.cmd script erroneously deleted StaticDownloadLinks-o2k13-x64-glb.txt
• Fix: Microsoft updated kb2574819 (DTLS, prerequisite for RDP 8.0) for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 (x86/x64)
• Fix: Download part missed kb2644615 for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 (x86/x64) due to a bug in Microsoft’s update catalog file wsusscn2.cab
• Fix: Download part missed kb956744 for Windows Server 2003 (x86) due to a bug in Microsoft’s update catalog file wsusscn2.cab
