Download WinRAR 6.23

RAR Labs has released version 6.23 of its archivers RAR and WinRAR. These popular compression tools are available for a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS. The programs can handle the most common formats – including rar, zip, cab, arj, lzh, tar, gz, uue, bz2, jar, iso, 7z and z – have a skinnable interface, and support for Zip64 and multivolume cab -files. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

New:

• Added: unpacking of XZ archives using the ARM64 filter.
• Temporary files named ‘Rar$LS*’, created when unpacking tests from multiple archives from the Windows Explorer context menu, are now deleted immediately. Previously, they were deleted only the next time WinRAR was run and only if they were at least 1 hour old.

Fixed bugs:

• An out-of-bounds data write security issue has been resolved in RAR4 recovery volume processing code. We are grateful to the user ‘goodbyeselene’ working with the Trend Micro Zero Day Initiative for reporting this error;
• WinRAR could launch a wrong file after a user double-clicked an item in a specially created archive.
  We are grateful to Andrey Polovinkin from Group-IB’s Threat Intelligence unit for reporting this error;
• If additional time fields from both NTFS and Unix were available for a file in a ZIP archive, then the second additional field was ignored when unpacking, even if it contained more time fields than the first;
• Interface themes were applied to archive icons even if the “Apply to archive icons” option in the “Organize Themes” dialog box was disabled.
