Spread the love

RAR Labs has released the fourth beta release of version 5.60 of its RAR and WinRAR archiving tools. This popular compression tool is available for a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS. The program handles the most common formats – including rar, zip, cab, arj, lzh, tar, gz, ace, uue, bz2, jar, iso, 7z and z – has a skinnable interface, and support for Zip64 and multivolume -cab files. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

Changes in version 5.60 beta 4

  • WinRAR failed to unpack some ZIP archives compressed with PPMd algorithm.
  • WinRAR entry in Windows Start menu uses Desktop as a start folder, so Desktop contents is shown after opening WinRAR. Previously it had the start folder blank, which resulted in displaying Windows system files on start.
  • If wrong password was specified for ZIP archive, the previous beta issued an error message with “OK” button for every encrypted file even if password was specified with “Set default password” command or -p switch. Now users do not need to press “OK” repeatedly for globally set wrong ZIP passwords.
