Software Update: WebCleaner 2.36

Spread the love

WebCleaner is an HTTP proxy with the possibility to apply filtering techniques. This makes it possible to compress documents with gzip, disable animated gifs, use SquidGuard blacklists and remove malicious html code. Management can be carried out with a clear web interface to adjust the settings of the proxy and the filters. Recently, the developer released version 2.36 with the following changes:

Version 2.36 “The Aristocrats”:

  • Improve JavaScript parsing by normalizing whitespace. Avoids some really long loops when searching with regular expressions.
  • Improved XML MIME type detection and namespace parsing. And make sure the XML encoding does not differ from the one advertised in the HTML headers.
  • Allow any port for HTTP request. Only check scheme allowance and localhost redirections.
  • Disable SSL gateway support when no SSL module is installed.
  • Fixed URL parsing with invalid port numbers.
  • Fixed invalid attribute name in Header rules. This re-enables header rule parsing and filtering.
  • Updated spidermonkey JavaScript library from upstream CVS as of 20060108.
  • Updated blacklist filters as of 20060106.
  • Do not add default port numbers to the hostname in the HTTP Host: header. Fixes endless loops with some https urls and an activated SSL gateway.
  • Corrected virus filter size error exception.

[break]Before starting the installation, it is recommended that the installation manual read in full. It also indicates which other programs must be installed, such as Python and OpenSSL.
