Software Update: VMware Player 1.0.1 build 19317

VMware Inc. has released a new version of VMware Player with version number 1.0.1 build 19317. It allows running virtual machines created with VMware Workstation, GSX Server or ESX Server. Microsoft virtual machines and Symantec’s LiveState Recovery disks are also supported. Several already installed virtual machines can be used via this page are brought in, such as SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9, Novell Linux Desktop 9 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. These can also be equipped with Oracle 10g or MySQL Network. The included announcement looks like this:

This release addresses a security vulnerability that has been discovered in VMware Player. VMware believes that the vulnerability is very serious, and recommends that users install the VMware Player 1.0.1 update or disable NAT networking.
