spellcoder points us to the first release candidate of VLC Media Player 0.8.6. This release was preceded by three test versions in which a number of new decoders, video outputs and localizations were tested and are still being tested with the arrival of the rc status, including native support for WMV3 and VC-1, improved support for H.264 and improvements for the Mozilla and ActiveX plugins. VLC Media Player is an open source media player that can be used on a wide range of operating systems such as Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The player is able to play a large number of media formats without additional codecs, ranging from MPEG1, MPEG2 and VCD to various streaming protocols. VLC Media Player 0.8.6-rc1 can via this folder be downloaded in a number of versions. Below is the changelog compared to version 0.8.5:
