Software Update: Universal USB Installer 1.9.8.5

Version 1.9.8.5 of Universal USB Installer has been released. With this Windows program, the installation iso’s of a large number of Linux distributions can be placed on a USB stick. As a result, they no longer have to be burned to a CD or DVD first; the installation can be performed from the self-starting USB stick. Support is available for a wide range of distributions, from the most famous to some very obscure. A part of the USB stick can also be used as persistent memory are used so that changes and personal files can be saved, which is normally not possible with a live CD. Since version 1.9.6.8, the following changes have been made:

Changes in version 1.9.8.5:

  • Set Fat32 and NTFS Format options to format only the selected Volume Drive Letter
  • Include a new option to Wipe Entire Disk (including all attached Volumes/Partitions)
  • The Wipe Entire Disk option can be used to Restore USB drives made bootable with DD, or to convert them back to use a single partition with a bootable MBR.

Changes in version 1.9.8.4:

  • Update to support Pearl Linux and Ubuntu Gnome
  • Fix some broken links
  • Fix Solus entry.

Changes in version 1.9.8.3:

  • Update to support Quick Save Live, Norton Bootable Recovery Tool, and Hiren’s Boot CD PE
  • Created Disk Cloning and Recovery Tools Category.

Changes in version 1.9.8.2:

  • Update to support Kodachi, and newer Kasperski Rescue Disk
  • Add new category for Anonymous Tor Browsers.
