Software Update: SyncBackFree 7.3.3.0

2Brightsparks has released a new version of SyncBackFree. This program is the simplest and therefore also the free version of the backup software that this company has to offer. In addition to making backups, SyncBackFree can also synchronize data. This can be to a location on the same disk or another disk, or to another medium, such as a CD-RW or USB stick, or to an FTP server or zip archive. In addition to this free version, there are also SyncBackSE and SyncBackProwhich for 29 and 46 euros respectively additional functionality offer. The changelog for this release looks like this:

• If an absolute path is entered into filters then it is left unchanged
• When scheduling a profile that uses mapped drives by default the schedule is set to use a password
• Performance improvements when FTP server does not support SIZE command
• Choosing a version in Differences window now displays a pop-up window to choose version
• Getting and setting file and folder security improved to reduce chance of access denied error
• Main page of log file will show username used for UNC connection if connecting as default user
• Non-critical error recorded if NTFS security cannot be retrieved for a file or folder
• Can use wildcards for When->Insert settings
• Will detect if copying compressed versions and will rename the uncompressed version so it is valid
• Default is now to automatically check for updates instead of prompting on second run
• Will not prompt user about visiting online tutorials when first run
• Will not prompt user for location of other SyncBack if it cannot be found when first run
• When making Windows network connection will check if can scan files to see if already connected
• FTP help file page was missing text

Fixed:

• Decision on what to do if files same was not being used unless hashing comparison was also enabled
• Being able to go Back on restore wizard when nothing to go back to
• Renaming a profile may not always update the schedule
• Using a key file for encryption of the settings
• Memory leak when selecting files and folders in profile configuration
