Software update: Skype for Windows 6.5 build 107 beta

Spread the love

Skype has released a beta of version 6.5 of its voip client for Windows. With Skype it is possible to communicate with other Skype users by means of text, speech or image, or a combination thereof, via an internet connection. It is also possible to set up a video conference call with a maximum of ten people, but there is a Premium Subscription required. Furthermore, the Facebook News Feed is integrated into the program and there is Skype Home, a place where you can indicate your mood, change your profile and find new contacts. Skype has created links to the Microsoft and Facebook accounts to allow chatting with Windows Live and Facebook users. It is not yet possible to have conversations, but we are working on it. The main change in version 6.5 is the ability to record a video message for users who cannot be reached.

Skype Video Messaging: Preview for Windows Desktop Users

Today we’ve released the preview of Skype Video Messaging for Skype for Windows desktop on Windows 7 or above. This feature will also be made available shortly for Skype for Windows 8. Skype Video Messaging lets you record a video message and send it to people who matter to you on Skype anytime, even when they’re unavailable; they will be able to watch the Video Message next time they’re online.

Please note: this feature will require Flash; the beta version of Skype for Windows desktop with Video Messaging in preview may not be available in all markets. This feature is also in preview for users of Skype for Mac, Skype for iPhone, Skype for iPad and Skype for Android. Skype for Windows 8 and Skype for Windows Phone users can also receive and view Video Messages; the ability to record and send Video Messages will be coming to these platforms soon.

As we continue to test Video Messaging in its early release, we’d love to hear your feedback so we can continue to make improvements. Please let us know what you think of this feature by posting in the Skype Support Network here for Skype 6.5 beta for Windows desktop or on our facebook or Twitter pages.
