Software update: Skype for Windows 5.1 build 112

Skype has released an update to version 5.1 of its VoIP client for Windows. With Skype it is possible to communicate with other Skype users by means of text, speech or image, or a combination thereof, over an internet connection. Since version 5.0 it is possible to set up a video conference call with a maximum of ten people, but there is a Premium Subscription required. Furthermore, the Facebook News Feed is integrated into the program and there is Skype Home, a place where you can indicate your mood, change your profile and find new contacts. This release fixes the following four issues:

Fixed issues:

  • Video calling: Video was not started when making numerous video calls during one Skype session
  • General: Skype was crashing on startup for some users
  • Call transfer: When transferring Skype call to a phone contact then phone contact was unable to hear audio
  • Options: When giving and removing access to Skype for other programs then Skype crashed
