Download SILC Server 1.1.1
For secure online conferences you can use the protocol Secure Internet Live Conferencing, better known by its abbreviation silicon. The design is focused on creating a secure environment from the start and includes many possibilities with irc and im protocols. Support for multimedia messages is present and it can also be used for video and audio conferences. Silc Server, as the name suggests, is a server application for setting up a silc environment. The developers have released version 1.1.1 with the following announcement:
Version 1.1.1:
The new version of the SILC Server is now available! This maintenance release fixes a remotely exploitable crash so upgrading is highly recommended.
Summary of Changes:
- Fixed NEW_CLIENT packet handling when it does not contain nickname.
Known issues:
- Two or more servers with same IP must not be linked to same network, even if server ports are different. This is limitation in current implementation and may cause desync problems in the network.
- Adding or removing listening interfaces (secondary interfaces in silcd.conf) does not work in rehash (rehash is kill -HUP
). Changing listening interfaces requires reboot of the server. - Router to router connections may not work as expected.
