Version 2.8 of Rufus has been released. Rufus is a Windows program that can be used to create self-starting USB sticks. Useful, for example, to install an operating system, which is faster from a USB stick than from a CD or DVD, to update the bios or to access a system that no longer wants to start. Incidentally, there are a large number of tools with which this can be done, but Rufus claims to be one of the fastest of its kind. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

  • Enable listing of non-USB card readers (EXPERIMENTAL)
  • Major speed improvement for checksum computation
  • Fix UI flicker during progress update
  • Fix computation of FAT size for Large FAT32
  • Syslinux improvements
  • Update GRUB to 2.02~beta3
