Software Update: qBittorrent 3.4.0 Beta 2

A second beta release of qBittorrent version 3.4.0 has been released. This open source torrent client has versions for Windows, Linux, macOS and FreeBSD, and shows no ads. The program is with Qt developed and based on libtorrent (raster bar) and boost. The program is the brainchild of French student Christophe Dumez, who has been working on it since March 2006. Today it is maintained by the community.

In beta 3.4.0, which will receive version 4.0 if it is declared stable, support for Qt 4 has been dropped and at least version 5.5.1 is now required. There is also a user interface for managing blocked IP addresses and a new set of icons that look good even at high resolutions. The following improvements have also been made in this release:

Feature:

  • Prefill torrent name when creating a new torrent. Close #7229.
  • Expose more libtorrent options in advanced settings

bug fix:

  • Fix explicit Torrent Management Mode in Add New Torrent dialog. Close #5602.
  • Fix calculation of ‘Average time in queue’ stat under libtorrent 1.1.x
  • Don’t disable bandwidth scheduler when manually switching speed limits. Close #7306.

cosmetics:

  • Remove identification for category/tag filter widgets in all platforms
  • Add space between widgets in left side panel. Close #7224.
  • Unify preference window borders across the tabs

WebUI:

  • Add option to rename torrent from WebUI
  • Add auto torrent management to webui context menu (addresses #6815)

Windows:

  • Use dpiawareness=1 on Windows. Close #5393.

macOS:

  • Fix macOS window restoration after using hide icon
  • Fix notification display on macOS
