A new version of qBittorrent has been released. This open source torrent client has versions for Windows, Linux, OS X and FreeBSD, and shows no ads. The program is with Qt4 developed and based on libtorrent (raster bar) and boost. The program is the brainchild of French student Christophe Dumez, who has been working on it since March 2006. Today it is maintained by the community. Version 3.1.9.1 includes a newer version of OpenSSL to address the heartbleed security issue. The Windows build was later found to contain a bug and was re-released with version number 3.1.9.2.

  • This is an excuse to produce new builds with an OpenSSL version that isn’t affected by the heartbleed bug for Windows and Mac. This bug should only affect the WebUI and only if HTTPS/SSL authentication was enabled.
