Download PeaZip 2.0

Version 2.0 of Peazip has been released today. Peazip is an open source archiving program that tries to distinguish itself from the competition by specializing in security. Encrypting data is therefore the spearhead of its own pea format. The program can create 7z, bz2, gz, paq/lpaq, pea, quad, tar, upx and zip files and extract files from many more formats including ace, arj, cab, deb , iso, lha, rar and rpm. The changelog for this release shows the following changes:

Changes in PeaZip version 2.0

• Added support for lpaq8 (read/write), u3p (read only)
• Added support for custom formats, allowing to archive / extract using arbitrary backend utilities
• Added “Search and drag here” option (open system search panel, user can drag found items to archive or layout)
• Gwrap evolved in PeaLauncher
  • new PeaLauncher mode showing both GUI and console
• New “Console” tab, allowing to fine tune, save and launch archiving / extraction jobs without modifying the job defined in GUI frontend
• New keyboard shortcuts (see documentation)

Archive creation:

• By default remember last used compression format
• Enabled doubleclick to open file/dirs (in system’s file browser) from archive layout
• Explicitly listed “Self-extracting” as format
• Option to append timestamp to archive name
• Pea format no longer needs counter extension if archive is not spanned

Archive extraction

• “extract selected to” using middle mouse button
• Extract / extract to / test toolbar buttons: new popup menu to apply the action to displayed or selected objects
• Improved prebrowse, now checking number of objects rather than size of the archive, to speed up opening populated archives
• Remember rename/overwrite policy for each format

File tools

• Customizable erase file passes (2..16)

Fixes:

• Resolved possible crash condition on some Windows systems while calling opendialogs (Lazarus Bugtracker ID 0010409, patch proposed by Chris Rorden);
• Resolved bug of application randomly not showing up if ProcessMessages was called when application’s windows was not yet visible;
• Code cleanup, IFDEF redesigned to allow easier porting, transparency made available for Win64
• various fixes and improvements
