Software update: Pears 1.7

Always staying up to date with all the websites you visit regularly is not always easy, but that aim is made a lot easier by programs like Pears. Pears regularly retrieves an RSS/RDF or Atom feed, from which it concludes, among other things, whether changes have taken place. The functionality of the program can be extended by loading plugins.

Yesterday, version 1.7 of the software was sent out on the wide web after 16 betas. The latest update, from beta 16 to final, has only one change to its name:

• fixed long-standing issue causing items to be marked as unread at every update when a feed contains more than one item with the same id.
