Software Update: Patch My PC 2.6.0.5

Version 2.6.0.5 of Patch My PC has been released. This program can check if the latest versions of a large number of programs – including Mozilla Firefox, Java, iTunes, Skype and Adobe Flash – are installed. In addition, it can see which Windows Updates are still missing from the system and which programs are starting with Windows, and can remove programs. This makes Patch My PC comparable to programs such as Personal Software Inspector from Secunia and Update Checker from FileHippo.

The program itself is less than half a megabyte in size and does not need to be installed to do its job. The user can indicate which updates should be installed or skipped and then everything is retrieved and installed with one mouse click. The language of the installation can also be specified. Since version 2.6.0.3, the following changes and improvements have been made:

• The keep content after exiting would not keep checked after closing the application
• Clicking Re-Check software would not list anything in version 2.6.0.4
• Re-Check software will now also list updated applications
• The Update Status should now auto scroll as updates are being installed
• Defraggler has been removed since the slim version is no longer available and the standard version auto installs Google Toolbar and Google Chrome

• The disable auto update feature would be ignored for Patch My PC self updater
• HWMonitor Pro would be incorrectly detected
• Potplayer, µTorrent, WinDirStat, Sony PC Companion, Yahoo! Messenger may not be detected correctly
• Skype would say it failed to install even when it was installed successfully
• KeePass version would not display the latest version in the other apps
• Added an option to not delete the update cache folder
