Software Update: Pale Moon 15.1.1

Spread the love

A minor update to Pale Moon’s version 15.1, released earlier this week, has been released. This web browser uses the source code of Mozilla Firefox, but is optimized for modern hardware and should be faster as a result. Pale Moon is functionally almost identical to Mozilla Firefox, but does not support older processors. Some things have also been omitted, including ‘Accessibility features’ and ‘Parental controls’. In addition, there is also a 64bit version available from the browser. The result is a browser that could sometimes be up to 25 percent better to perform. More information about the program can here are found. Version 15.1.1 fixes two major issues.

Pale Moon 15.1.1 released!

Pale Moon 15.1.1 has been released, which fixes important performance (high CPU usage) and stability (browser hang) issues.

Details:

  • Backed out the cairo graphics engine patch by tete009 for faster drawing of html5 games (brush caching). This caused browser hangs in certain situations. The Azure patch is still present.
  • Backed out the multi-threaded box blur patch by tete009 for faster drawing of, among other things, blurred shadows. This caused excessively high CPU usage on some pages/systems, and would make the browser choppy or poorly responsive.
