Software Update: Paint.NET 4.0 Build 5278 Beta 5

Spread the love

The fifth beta of Paint.NET version 4.0 has been released. As the name suggests, this program needs the .Net framework to do its job. It started as a study assignment for Washington State University to replace the Paint included with Windows, but now contains a lot of functionality that we also see in more extensive, commercial packages. Version 4.0 works a lot faster, especially on multicore processors, but does have at least Windows 7 as a system requirement. The changelog for this version looks like this:

Here are the changes and fixes since the last beta:

  • Significantly improved performance of the Ellipse shape
  • Fixed the selection outline being drawn in the wrong location when zoomed in
  • Fixed a glitch in the Line/Curve tool
  • Fixed a rendering glitch and crash in the Move Selected Pixels tool
  • Fixed a crash when attempting to draw a shape with zero width and/or zero height
  • Updated installer to use .NET 4.5.2
  • Fixed a problem that was preventing the installer from working with certain McAfee antivirus configurations (MsiOpenDatabaseW error 110)
  • New language: Persian
  • New language: Danish
