Software Update: Opera 10.00 Final

On Tuesday the final release of version 10.00 of the web browser Opera was finally released. Opera is free to use and available for Windows, Linux, and Max OS X, and includes features like tabbed browsing, a popup blocker, and an email program with spam filter. The list of improvements in version 10.00 is long. For example, the Presto rendering engine has been renewed, which should improve stability and security. The appearance has also been refreshed, including with Visual Tabs, and there is now a spell checker and an auto-update tool.

During the development of version 10, a lot of time was also put into Opera Unite, which offers the possibility to exchange files and chat with other Opera users. However, Opera Unite was not yet considered stable enough by the developers, so this feature will only be made available in version 10.1. Relative to second release candidate, which by the way has not been featured here in the Meuktracker, the following minor changes have been made:
