Software update: OpenRCT2 0.0.5

You wouldn’t tell by the version number, but the fourth stable release of OpenRCT2 has been released. OpenRCT2 is the open source version of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. The project tries to resemble the original as much as possible, but is written in a modern language which allows for extensions and improvements. It is similar to, for example, OpenTTD. In order to play it, it is necessary to have the original game, because it needs, among other things, the images. The best way to play it is by using the OpenRCT2 Launcher, so you always have the latest version. The changelog for this release looks like this:

This is the first fully implemented version of OpenRCT2. RCT2.EXE is no longer required.

New features:

  • Ability to disable rendering of weather effects and gloom
  • New view option: “See-Through Paths”

  • Optionally zoom in towards the cursor rather than the screen center.

Change:

  • The maximum height of Junior Roller Coasters is now 14 units, like it was in RCT1.

  • Path finding algorithm.
  • Performance and reliability of loading objects.
  • Screenshots are now saved with the name of the park and the current date and time.
  • More accurate frame rate calculation
  • In-game file dialog now shows more formats (sv6, sc6, sv4, etc.)
  • Joining multiplayer will not redownload custom objects

Removed:

  • BMP screenshots.
  • Intamin and Phoenix easter eggs.

  • [#933] On-ride photo price sometimes gets reset to £2 when using ‘same price in whole park’ (original bug).

  • MinGW builds dropped support for Windows XP
