Software update: Notepad++ 8.1.9

Spread the love

For the fourth time in a short time, a new version of Notepad++ has been released. This comprehensive text editor has several features that are especially useful for programmers, such as syntax highlighting for C, C++, Java, HTML, XML and PHP, among others. The program also offers the possibility to edit more than one document at the same time or to maintain one document in two different places. If you want to use the latest version, you have to download it yourself. Notepad++’s built-in updater only offers updates a week after their appearance, in order to be able to fix any serious bugs. The release notes for this release can be found below.

Version v = 8.1.6; Release release = doNewRelease(v++): while (release.hasRegression()) { release = doNewRelease(v++); †

You may be annoyed by the repetition of new release since v8.1.6, me too.
It’s due to some important modification of file saving functions in previous version (v8.1.6) for fixing file corruption after Microsoft Windows Update restarting PCand then several related regressions found in v8.1.6 to v8.1.8.

❝ Software and cathedrals are much the same:
first we build them, then we pray.❞

So let’s pray together for not having any regression in v8.1.9.

Notepad++ v8.1.9 bug fixes:

  • Fix empty file with non-Unicode encoding cannot be saved issue. (Fix #10699
  • Fix language list in Style Configurator not being reloaded issue. (Fix #9512
