Software update: nLite 0.99.8 beta

nLite, the program that creates a personalized Windows 2000, XP or 2003 installation CD, has been updated to version 0.99.8 beta. This program can, among other things, remove unused components and slipstream service packs and hotfixes. This creates an installation CD that is up-to-date and has enough space to add your own programs and drivers. When everything has been adjusted to your liking, the whole can be written to an ISO file and eventually burned as a self-starting CD or DVD.

The program is written in C#, but there is also a separate download available where the runtimes so it is no longer necessary to have Microsoft’s .NET Framework installed. In that case, you will have to choose the self-extracting archive instead of the installer. ViVa also had another tip for us. Some Ryan VanderMeulen has made a number of packages that make it easy to integrate some programs and the hotfixes that came out after Service Pack 2 in the installation CD.
