Software update: NeoMail 1.26

Email is nice and nice, but what if you’re at work or on vacation and can’t suppress a sudden urge to check your email? A webmail interface saves you a long drive home. The makers of NeoMail must have thought so too, as they’ve been busy developing their web-based email program for several years now. The software enables anyone with a computer running a mail and web server to write a digital letter from anywhere in the world.

NeoMail, according to its creators, excels in ease of installation and use. The software is released under the General Public License. That means that anyone who wants to can view and edit the source code; something that is hard to avoid anyway because the program is written in Perl. Thanks to Perl, the software is also completely platform-independent. In the new release, numbered 1.26, it has been ensured that no problems will arise between new versions of other software and NeoMail:

  • Updated to use Digest::MD5 and fix a few problems with Perl 5.8.0’s taint checking. Basically just brought the codebase up to date to allow it to run without having to download patches.[break]NeoMail is only available in a .tar.gz archive† Windows users who have trouble opening the file can contact WinRAR
