Mono is an open-source implementation of the .NET Framework. Using Mono, developers can write cross-platform applications that will work not only on Windows systems, but also on Mac OS X, Linux, and Unix. The software includes a C# compiler, a .NET compatible runtime, and two different sets of APIs: one that provides compatibility with Microsoft’s .NET Framework (including support for ASP.NET, ADO.NET, and a number of other components) and a set that offers a variety of Linux and Unix-specific functions. The developers have released version 1.1.10 and the changes have run out this page read back. The following announcement is made:
