Software Update: Media Portal 0.2.0.0 Release Candidate 4

Spread the love

On the occasion of the two year anniversary have the developers behind the open source HTPCprogram Media Portal today released the fourth release candidate of version 0.2.0.0. With this program, a Windows XP machine can be used as the heart of the multimedia hardware in the living room. This makes it easy to listen to radio and music or watch videos and DVDs. Furthermore, TV programs can be recorded and the appearance of the program can be adjusted. Media Portal was created because the creator of XBMC, Erwin Beckers, also wanted support for television, but the XBox had no option for installing a TV card. There is no changelog for this release, but the following release notes are available:

We released this version to celebrate our 2nd anniversary , to help test some recent setup changes and to also provide a nice shiny setup release for some people who are looking for an alternative HTPC application. Not much has changed from RC3 apart from some bugs being squashed, a few more cards being supported – oh, not to forget mofux’ marvelous new MiniEPG and mPod’s excellent MCE remote custom configuration option.[break]
