Although at Maxthon they are hard at work developing version 2.0, it shows that the 1.x branch is not abandoned yet, as version 1.5.9 build 30 was released the day before yesterday. Maxthon is a so-called ‘wrapper’, a shell around Internet Explorer. It uses IE’s engine to build the pages, but has its own interface with all kinds of extra functionality, such as tabbed browsing, mouse gestures (using the mouse to control the program in a convenient way) , and has a popup and ad blocker. Via the Maxton Resource Center files can be downloaded that add extra functionality or change the appearance. Maxthon can be downloaded in the well-known Combo or Standard flavors and the difference lies in the number of plugins and skins that are included. The changelog of this release looks like this:
