Software Update: Kodi 15.0 RC 2

The second release candidate of Kodi version 15.0 has been released. Formerly marketed as XBMC, Kodi is cross-platform media center software developed for Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, and the Raspberry Pi. New in version 15.0, which has been codenamed Isengard, includes adaptive seeking, which means that audio and video files can be jumped with larger or smaller steps. In addition, there is support for hevc h265 under Android on certain chipsets and the code is moving to C++11. However, this does result in an increase in the minimum specifications. For example, at least OS X 10.7, iOS 5.1 or Android 4.2 is required for version 15. Fixes done since RC 1 version

  • Fix endless loop in PVR section which causes high CPU load
  • Fix crash on opening context menu item
  • Fix sorting by episodes
  • Don’t try to use hardware decoding for h264/10bit video files (don’t confuse with h265/10bit)
  • Fix playback of certain HEVC files
  • Avoid freezing/deadlock in peripheral manager
  • Fix genres in smart playlists
  • Fix grouping by artists in smart playlists
  • Fix video calibration for Android
  • Make sure to download the OBB file when Play Store doesn’t
  • Some other technical changes…
