Spread the love

Version 1.0.29 was released from fre:ac. Fre:ac is an open source and cross platform audio converter and CD ripper. Support is available for the most common lossy and lossless formats, including mp3, Ogg Vorbis, aac and flac. The program has been around since 2001, albeit under the name BonkEnc. This release includes a newer version of the FAAC/FAAD2 codec and MP3 files decoded from now on with the mpg123 library, which should yield a better result.

fre:ac v1.0.29

The new release now uses the mpg123 library for more reliable MP3 decoding, updates the FAAC/FAAD2 codec to the latest version and fixes several minor issues.

Upgrading to fre:ac v1.0.28 is recommended to all users of earlier versions. You can download it at the downloads section of this site.
