Software Update: Fire 1.5.1

There are now a number of different Instant Messaging networks. As a result, it is possible that a number of friends or acquaintances use an IM network that you do not use. Therefore, IM programs have been developed that support multiple IM networks.

For the MacOS X operating system, Fire is available that supports the following IM networks: AOL, Apple Rendezvous, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Jabber, limited IRC, and Yahoo. Recently, the development team released version 1.5.1 with the following release notes:

The Fire team has released a minor update to Fire 1.5, the Instant Messenger application. Fire 1.5.1 is now available for free download.

Please note that Fire 1.5 and higher only support Mac OS 10.2 and above. Mac OS 10.1 users will need to continue to use Fire 1.0.4. This change was necessary in order to bring you the advanced user interface improvements in this latest version.

This update to improves compatibility with 10.2 systems, and fixes some problems with the following areas:

  • MSN not working on 10.2
  • Single Chat Window Mode unavailable
  • Zero Height For Text entry area
  • Jabber Buddies won’t show as online

This release also includes a Czech localization. Other localized versions will be released just as soon as they are available.
